lunch and a chat [for Viatorus]

Iphigenia's excited to have met someone who knows about her and her story, so she wastes no time preparing for their next meeting. It's not every day you meet someone who recognizes your past, after all.

She can't wait to see Viatorus again, so when the time comes, she's sitting in a pretty dress at a table in the Forum. Wine has been poured into glasses, and there's a light lunch on the table--nothing spectacular, just some bread, cheese, and fruit. Her hands are folded neatly on her lap, and she wears a big smile on her face, ready to greet him.

"I hope so! I'd like to learn about other places. For so long, I didn't have the chance to explore, and now I do."

That makes his smile widen and he nods. "Take the chance you have... I looked you up. After we parted. You're the princess Iphigenia, aren't you? The symbol of sacrifice."

[bornstrong]

"Yes, I am," she replies. "And I wasn't afraid in the end, I promise you."

[heirtothearcane]

"I am very glad to hear that," he says honestly, sobering a little. For something to do he finds himself picking up a glass of wine and fidgeting with the stem of it. "Could I ask you what it was like? Growing up back then, living as a princess, having the gods direct your life so much?"

[bornstrong]

"It was not strange, if that's what you're asking," she replies, smiling slightly. "Because it was all I knew. In fact, now is stranger than then, if that makes sense. Adjusting to, well, life after death. All I knew was that my father was king and that one day, I'd be married off to someone. And when things didn't turn out that way, of course I was surprised, but I wanted to please the gods, so I went willingly to my death."

"But... at first... You didn't want to straight away, did you?" He's a little more hesitant in asking this.

[bornstrong]

She nods.

"I was scared, yes, of course! But then I realized that I must go willingly, for my father and for all of my country."

[heirtothearcane]

He sighs, awe slipping into the soft sound. "I can't imagine... It's very brave of you. Very brave. I'm... I'm glad you have a second chance here."

After a moment, he tilts his head and asks, "Do you think you'll miss being a princess? Having people do things for you?"

[bornstrong]

"I miss that part a little, yes," she admits, looking a little sheepish suddenly. "But everything else? I'm not sure. It seems I was destined for what I was meant to do, so even if I had been born a pauper, I guess I'd be in the same situation now."

"I can imagine that things are going to be a little strange for you now while you adjust to all of this... If there's anything I can do to help you, I'd be honoured to.

[bornstrong]

"Thank you," she says softly. "And I would so grateful for your assistance."

[heirtothearcane]

"My... My family... In my world your story is a myth, a legend. A part of history that people pass on, but aren't certain about." He fidgets. "But... my family is... My ancestors were blessed by Despoina, and even Hecate, I'm told. We uphold old traditions and pay homage to the gods. I know I... I didn't sacrifice myself to them, but... we both serve them. So anything, anything I can do, I'll do my best to help you."

[bornstrong]

"I would be honored, then, to be aided by you." She smiles. "And I'm glad that I've met someone who honors the gods as well."
